Battlefield Bad Company Ships!

Monday 23 June 2008 | Post a comment

Battlefield: Bad Company has finally shipped to retailers in North America today. So basically, get to your local game shop and pick up a copy today! Here's all the details concerning the release straight from EA and DICE.
"The gold rush is here! EA Digital Illusions CE AB (DICE), a studio of Electronic Arts Inc. today announced that its highly anticipated summer release, Battlefield: Bad Company(TM) has shipped to retail stores. The game will land on retail shelves on June 25 in North America and June 27 in Europe. Launching on PLAYSTATION(R) computer entertainment system and Xbox 360(TM) videogame and entertainment system, players will join the 'B' Company, a wayward band of soldiers more interested in the pursuit of gold and personal financial gain than following the rules.

Battlefield: Bad Company delivers a deep single-player campaign loaded with dark humor, intense combat and deafening destruction. Players take on the role of Preston Marlowe, a young soldier whose antics land him in the division with the highest mortality rate alongside other troublemakers Sarge, Haggard and Sweetwater. Players will tackle harsh terrain and fierce enemies with their squad of renegade soldiers as they search for an elusive treasure using dozens of vehicles, weapons and deadly toys all at their disposal for explosive experimentation.

Gamers can also jump online for some intense multiplayer action as players become either an attacker or defender in the Gold Rush multiplayer mode as they protect or destroy crates that hold precious gold and their ticket home. As gamers embark on their quest for financial freedom, they'll experience the same classic Battlefield gameplay including access to numerous vehicles, weapons and open maps as well as the new tactical destruction that only Battlefield: Bad Company can deliver. The popular Conquest mode made famous by the Battlefield franchise will be offered as a free download later this summer."

Security Leak For Beta Testers

Tuesday 17 June 2008 | Post a comment

For those of you, like myself, who had applied to become a Battlefield Heroes beta tester, you probably received quite a scare when the company handling the applications, QA Boss, sent out an email alerting users their account information may have been compromised.

Apparently the company had a security leak last week which exposed account information for the thousands of users that had registered on the site in recent weeks. Members' usernames, encrypted passwords, and email addresses were all exposed for a period of time, and it was highly recommended that you change your password to protect your account from further damage.

Today, the Battlefield Heroes team issues a statement addressing concerns and assuring everyone that your EA Account information remains completely secure.
"We want to let you know that there was a security issue with our Beta testing partner, QA Boss. We have been assured that QA Boss have now resolved their security issues.

For clarity’s sake: No EA accounts were hacked.

We trust that QA Boss accounts are once again secure and we hope that those currently in the Beta will continue to give us great feedback. "

There has still been no word from QA Boss as to the extent of the damage the security breach caused, but we will keep you posted as more develops.

Heroes Update: Abilities And Classes

Wednesday 11 June 2008 | Post a comment

The Battlefield Heroes development team has updated their official blog this afternoon, addressing the abilities and classes of the upcoming release. Colin Clarke, a lead developer, gives us a sneak peek at a view of the abilities which will be featured in Heroes, including the Grenade Spam, Heroic Shield, and of course the Blasting Strike. Be sure to head on over to the Official Heroes Website to check out the full post and get all the details on these crazy abilities.
"In a previous blog post James discussed a bit how we arrived at the three main archetypes found in Heroes. With these archetypes nailed down it was time for me to sit down and turn all the notes into actual game play figures. Since heroes tend to be the ones who are still alive when the credits roll the first major hurdle was enabling someone to still feel heroic, even in defeat. My solution was to try and reduce potential frustration and to "always leave them laughing." Frustration to me meant trying to remove no-win situations. Injecting humor and laughter into losing was a bit more difficult. Thankfully there is a term within the Battlefield world known as "A Battlefield Moment"."

If you have been enjoying playing the online aspect of the recently released demo, you may have some trouble connecting over the next few days. Battlefield Heroes Community Update

Tuesday 3 June 2008 | Post a comment

There has been a new community update over at Battlefield Heroes Website today. Most of the announcement is to inform fans of new Heroes content around the net, including a list of previews over at Planet Battlefield.
"Although we can’t actually read what most of it says, it does look like these guys put quite some effort into this Slovak & Czech Battlefield Heroes Fan Site. Nice work fellas.

If you haven’t already found them, you must have a look at BFHeroes.se. The site is in Swedish, so if you can read Swedish it’s worth having a look.

Outpost Gamez provide information on a number of games, but the Battlefield Heroes section is, of course, a very impressive one...

Well well, the German speakers get another site to choose from; head over to BFHeroes.de and see what Chefkoch is brewing.

Amongst several good articles, Planet Battlefield have broken down the BF Heroes Trailers and made a list of Battlefield Heroes Previews.

And not to forget BFHeroes.org, they have a very pretty looking site with an overview of the different Heroes goings on.

For a slightly different take on Battlefield Heroes, Objective 514 might interest some folks.

Thanks everyone!"
