EA has released more details today in the BF Portal about its recent ranked server breach. The breach, apparently pertaining to stat padding, has been occurring for quite a while and only now has the problem come to light. For more information head on over to the BF Portal.
"It is always our commitment to work to prevent cheating and stat padding as part of an ongoing process. After the problems brought to light recently we have been working with the Ranked Server Providers to bring the stat padding to an end as well as dealing with those who have been using the exploit to boost their scores. Since the problem was detected, we have reset over 700 accounts of players found to be padding and will continue to do so whilst we secure the ranking system from future attacks. Please report any servers or players you suspect of cheating and/or padding to EA Customer Support through the website at http://support.ea.com. "

Bad Company Delay Confirmed

Thursday 24 January 2008 | Post a comment

The rumors are correct, IGN is reporting that the game is being pushed back to "general 2008". Check out the release below.

"January 23, 2008 - Looks like fans will have to wait a little bit longer to be part of Battlefield: Bad Company. The upcoming title, which focuses on a squad of renegade soldiers who are seeking gold and revenge behind enemy lines was originally scheduled to be released in March. However, according to a recent email sent out by Electronic Arts, the DICE FPS has slipped from its early 2008 ship date to a general 2008 release date. We contacted Electronic Arts but were not able to receive a comment as to why the game had been pushed back. We'll make sure to keep everyone informed as soon as we find out when the game has a firm date. "

Battlefield Heroes Exclusive to US and Europe

Wednesday 23 January 2008 | Post a comment

Live outside the US or Europe and are waiting to play Battlefield Heroes when it comes out? Think again! Kotaku Australia is reporting that those of us outside of the US and Europe are out of luck.

"If you were looking forward to trying out DiCE's Battlefield Heroes, the free-to-play game announced by EA earlier this week, think again. EA Australia has informed us that the game will not be available to audiences outside of the US and Europe."

"EA was unable to explain why the game won't be released outside the aforementioned territories, but the words "for the moment" were tossed around, so we may see the title eventually. Just not right now."

Such a shame, really.

CD-Key Issues Plague Battelfield 2142 Deluxe

Tuesday 22 January 2008 | Post a comment

With the recent release of Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition also came an unexpected problem: CD-Key activation problems. Many users have come forward saying that when they try and activate their new game, they receive an error stating "CD key has already been registered with an account".

While EA has yet to respond or acknowledge the issue, many users have posted on EA's Forums complaining about the problem. One theory is that the recently changed account system by EA may have led to the troubles. Once EA issues a response (hopefully soon), we will let you know.

EA Announces Free Battlefield Heroes Game

Monday 21 January 2008 | Post a comment

Today, Electronic Arts unveiled plans to release a free-to-play Battlefield game that will be wandering away from the realistic battlefield experience and graphics we're used to. They will be heading in the cartoon direction for graphics, much like the visually pleasing Team Fortress 2.

"Unique Cartoon Shooter Introduces a New Way to Play Battlefield

Munich, Germany, January 21, 2008 – At the Digital, Life, Design Conference (DLD) in Munich, Electronic Arts Inc., (NASDAQ: ERTS) today unveiled Battlefield Heroes™, an all-new Play 4 Free cartoon-style shooter that will bring classic Battlefield gameplay to an all new mass audience. Available for download at www.battlefield-heroes.com this summer, Battlefield Heroes is EA's first title that is offered completely for free, and features a built-in matchmaking system to ensure that players of equal skill are paired together for fair play. Developed by DICE in Stockholm, Battlefield Heroes is leading EA's new web-focused free to download, free to play business model which generates revenue through advertising and micro-transactions. With zero barriers to entry, now anyone can be a hero on the battlefield!

“Online gaming garners a massive audience,” said Gerhard Florin, EVP Publishing Americas-Europe at EA. “People want to play games in new ways, with easier access that is quick to the fun. With Battlefield Heroes, EA brings its first major franchise to North America and Europe with a new distribution model and pricing structure adapted to the evolving way that people play.”

Battlefield Heroes is a brand new game from the team behind Battlefield 1942™ and Battlefield 2™. It's fun cartoon-style graphics and gameplay caters to players of all skill levels. It is easy to pick up and play but with robust character customization and a deep online meta-game, gamers can spend hours building up their characters and conquering the world.

“We put a different twist on this Battlefield game going with the cartoon-style graphics and gameplay,” added Ben Cousins, Senior Producer at EA DICE. “There's something here for all types of players -- be it our core Battlefield fans or casual gamers. With the new online model, we will continually add new content to keep the game fresh and keep players engaged, while integrating player feedback in real time. As a game developer, it is such a cool new way to make games.”

Battlefield Heroes will be released for the PC as a free download in summer 2008. This product is not yet rated by PEGI or ESRB. For more information on EA DICE, please visit www.dice.se or www.ea.com."
