Security Leak For Beta Testers

Posted On: Tuesday 17 June 2008

For those of you, like myself, who had applied to become a Battlefield Heroes beta tester, you probably received quite a scare when the company handling the applications, QA Boss, sent out an email alerting users their account information may have been compromised.

Apparently the company had a security leak last week which exposed account information for the thousands of users that had registered on the site in recent weeks. Members' usernames, encrypted passwords, and email addresses were all exposed for a period of time, and it was highly recommended that you change your password to protect your account from further damage.

Today, the Battlefield Heroes team issues a statement addressing concerns and assuring everyone that your EA Account information remains completely secure.
"We want to let you know that there was a security issue with our Beta testing partner, QA Boss. We have been assured that QA Boss have now resolved their security issues.

For clarity’s sake: No EA accounts were hacked.

We trust that QA Boss accounts are once again secure and we hope that those currently in the Beta will continue to give us great feedback. "

There has still been no word from QA Boss as to the extent of the damage the security breach caused, but we will keep you posted as more develops.
