Give Your Feedback To Bad Company Developers

Wednesday 2 July 2008 | Post A Comment

The developers over at DICE are asking for your help in making Battlefield: Bad Company that much more enjoyable for the future. In a new blog post at the DICE Website, the developers are asking for your feedback about the game, including aspects which you dislike and even new features you would like to see added. While there is no guarantee the changes will be implemented, it is a chance for you to let the development team know what you think.
"We are happy to see that so many of you are playing Battlefield: Bad Company and having so much fun. The level of community interest in this game and its features is really visible, also through the amount of feedback various members of the development team have been receiving through their Live accounts, Facebook, emails, phone calls, faxes (People still use those??) on our forums and all the other channels out there.

Our Bad Company developers have been working a lot in the last two years and, we have managed to produce a game that we are very proud of. Even with the game already in stores, we would like to let you know that we are reading and listening to all of your feedback.

Right now the team is working on creating the Conquest game mode for Battlefield: Bad Company together with the conversion of the maps to go with it. The Conquest Pack is currently going through testing and certification.

We are very aware of the different issues you have told us you find most important. Therefore as soon as we’re done with the above there are several other points of your feedback which we’ll continue to investigate, without currently being able to say with certainty whether or not we will be able to include them. These include, but are not limited to:

* Clan support/private rooms/team chat
* Auto balancing on servers
* Continued support against stats exploits
* VOIP issue on PS3 (working with Sony on this)
* Squads might be split up when joining a server as a squad. This is due to team balancing in the games that are being joined, and usually resolves itself in round 2.

Ben Cousins, executive producer for the Battlefield Series, has informed GameIndustry.Biz today that there are currently 5 new Battlefield titles in development. The game will land on retail shelves on June 25 in North America and June 27 in Europe. Launching on PLAYSTATION(R) computer entertainment system and Xbox 360(TM) videogame and entertainment system, players will join the 'B' Company, a wayward band of soldiers more interested in the pursuit of gold and personal financial gain than following the rules.

Security Leak For Beta Testers

Tuesday 17 June 2008 | Post A Comment

For those of you, like myself, who had applied to become a Battlefield Heroes beta tester, you probably received quite a scare when the company handling the applications, QA Boss, sent out an email alerting users their account information may have been compromised.

Apparently the company had a security leak last week which exposed account information for the thousands of users that had registered on the site in recent weeks. Members' usernames, encrypted passwords, and email addresses were all exposed for a period of time, and it was highly recommended that you change your password to protect your account from further damage.

Today, the Battlefield Heroes team issues a statement addressing concerns and assuring everyone that your EA Account information remains completely secure.
"We want to let you know that there was a security issue with our Beta testing partner, QA Boss. We have been assured that QA Boss have now resolved their security issues.

For clarity’s sake: No EA accounts were hacked.

We trust that QA Boss accounts are once again secure and we hope that those currently in the Beta will continue to give us great feedback. "

There has still been no word from QA Boss as to the extent of the damage the security breach caused, but we will keep you posted as more develops.

Heroes Update: Abilities And Classes

Wednesday 11 June 2008 | Post A Comment

The Battlefield Heroes development team has updated their official blog this afternoon, addressing the abilities and classes of the upcoming release. Colin Clarke, a lead developer, gives us a sneak peek at a view of the abilities which will be featured in Heroes, including the Grenade Spam, Heroic Shield, and of course the Blasting Strike. Be sure to head on over to the Official Heroes Website to check out the full post and get all the details on these crazy abilities.
"In a previous blog post James discussed a bit how we arrived at the three main archetypes found in Heroes. With these archetypes nailed down it was time for me to sit down and turn all the notes into actual game play figures. Since heroes tend to be the ones who are still alive when the credits roll the first major hurdle was enabling someone to still feel heroic, even in defeat. My solution was to try and reduce potential frustration and to "always leave them laughing." Frustration to me meant trying to remove no-win situations. Injecting humor and laughter into losing was a bit more difficult. Thankfully there is a term within the Battlefield world known as "A Battlefield Moment"."
